I did some grocery shopping before I fetched Cherie from school. Cherie, 9, and her friend Ellie, were happy to be released from school. Cherie was excited. “Ah hah! I know you called my teacher to ask about supplementary classes!”

“No, I didn’t. Stop pointing at me.”

“It wasn’t you? My teacher received a call from a parent during class time, and he answered ‘Nope, no extra classes this week.’ ”

“I’m sure. You can read the text message in my cell phone.”

Ellie was politely quiet, minding her own business.

Children. They are embarrassed by parents who call their teachers. Typical.
